The James River Park System Trail Marking Project is the official charity of Dominion Riverrock. This project will help make one of Richmond’s best assets more accessible and easier to navigate for the general public by clearly marking trails with mile markers and directional signage. In addition, each trail head will have general trail information kiosks including maps and distances of each marked trail. The maps and trail information will also be available on the web for the community to view and download. The goal of the James River Park System Trail Marking Project is to encourage residents and visitors to feel more comfortable using our downtown trail system as a way to be active. This will in turn play a role in achieving an Active RVA , a community-wide, collaborative movement led by the Sports Backers to increase opportunities for physical activity in the Richmond region.

Help us help others by dropping off your used sneakers to the Green Sneakers tent located on Brown's Island during Dominion Riverrock. These shoes will be recycled for third world use, and Green Sneakers will donate .50/lb of tennis shoes (shoes average 2lbs each, so that's roughly $1/pair!) to the James River Park System Trail Marking Project. Please leave the laces in your shoes, tie each pair together by the laces and place in a grocery bag!
Through the use of the GreenSneakers program, charities are able to raise the funds they require to meet local needs, all while helping support needs on a global scale through the reuse of collected sneakers as affordable footwear to people in need around the world. This activity greatly improves economic conditions in developing nations and provides sustainable job opportunities where they otherwise would not exist. In cases of great humanitarian need, collected sneakers are distributed through reputable relief agencies with the appropriate mechanisms in place to effectively engage in this level of aide.
