Bouldering is returning to Dominion Riverrock in 2014. The event features some of the top pro climbers in the country ascending a man made 20 foot high bouldering cave. This cage, visible to spectators from all sides, has been called the "most unique bouldering wall ever constructed" and was custom built for Dominion Riverrock and Dominion Riverrock only. During the competition, Men and Women will be forced to max out their agility in order to climb up and out of the cage.

REGISTRATION
Climbers interested in taking part in the Boulder Bash should be highly qualified climbers with women being able to climb V8 or above and men being able to climb V10 or above.  If you would like to take part in this competition, send us an e-mail at info@sportsbackers.org.  Once competitors’ qualifications are verified, competitors will be required to officially enter the competition.  Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Packet Pick Up:

Packet Pick-up is in the American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar courtyard during the following times:

Friday, May 16 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.*

*All athletes must report to the climbing zone before 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16 for an event briefing.

A photo ID is required for adults to pick up your packet (not required for minors without IDs).

Competition Format:

The competition is comprised on 4 total rounds, consisting of one route each:  Two qualifying rounds, a semifinal and a final.  There will be 20 women and 20 men competing in both Q1 and Q2 starting on Friday at 6:30 and Saturday at noon, respectively.  The top 15 male and female climbers will move on to the semifinals starting at 4:00 on Saturday.  The top 10 climbers will compete in the single-route finals Saturday night starting at 7:30.  The time limit for each round is 5 minutes.

The iso area will open approximately 90 minutes prior to each round and close 30 minutes prior to each round.

Saturday, May 17 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Men’s & Women’s Qualifying 2

Sunday, May 18   Speed Comp

Age Requirements:

Participants must be at least 16 years old to participate.

Awards:

Prize money will be awarded to the top Male and Females climbers.

WEATHER POLICY

This event will happen rain or shine. However, it may be interrupted, postponed, or cancelled if lightning occurs or safety is a concern due to weather.  In the case of the event being postponed, the competition will be held as soon as event officials decide conditions are safe and reasonable for competition, which could include the following day.  As a result of postponing the event, it is possible the competition will be shortened due to time constraints.  In the case of the event being cancelled, the winner of the competition will be determined by rank at the point of the cancellation.  The event organizers will not be responsible for reimbursing any additional costs to the athletes as a result of the competition being delayed or cancelled.
