VEPCO Levy off of Brown’s Island
In this single elimination, head to head kayak race down the James, heats of 4-5 competitors will battle it out through the rapids and around the buoys to advance to the next round. Top two survivors move on until only four are left to compete in the championship heat. Spectators can catch the carnage – err competition – from the bridge to nowhere. The downriver race starts at the Brown’s Island rapid above the old VEPCO dam and drops through several significant holes in the VEPCO Levy rapids.

Thursday, May 17 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday, May 19 beginning at 11 a.m.
Entries are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
Packet Pick-up is in the American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar courtyard during the following times:

Participants must be at least 15 years old to participate.
- Navigate your way through the rapids and around three strategically placed buoys, scrambling to be the first to tag the final buoy.
- All competitors must wear life vests and helmets. When things get rowdy, you’ll be glad you did!
- Ladies, grab your friends. We need at least six of you to create a women’s only division.
