Jackson Kayak and Appomattox River Company are providing recreational kayaks for any festival-goer to paddle around in the canal during Dominion Riverrock free of charge. Being on a kayak is one of the best ways to see some of the excitement on Brown's Island. Come one, come all! The kayak demos are FREE to the public. Kayaks and paddles will be provided. Check in just below the vehicle access bridge to Brown's Island. Appomattox River Company store representatives will be on hand to teach you proper techniques.
TRY A SUP
A what? A SUP - or a Stand Up Paddleboard. SUP is one of the fastest growing watersports in the world, and you have a chance to experience the fad. In addition to the two competitions (SUP Cross and SUP Enduro) at the festival, we're also offering free SUP demos for anyone interested in giving it a try. All SUP's and paddles are provided by C4 Waterman and Appomattox River Company. Check in just below the vehicle access bridge to Brown's Island. Appomattox River Company store representatives will be on hand to teach you proper techniques.
WHITEWATER RAFTING TRIPS ON THE JAMES

Come shoot Pipeline's big-water rapids with Richmond's outdoor excursion company, Riverside Outfitters. Pipeline is a Class III-IV paddling wonderland steps from Brown's Island. Sign-up for your very own whitewater rafting trip at the Riverside Outfitters farmhouse on Brown's Island Friday evening and Saturday. Trips will leave Saturday every 30 minutes from Brown's Island, and customers will be shuttled back to the festival by Riverside. The trip duration will be 30-40 mins at a discounted cost of $20/person. Come get your white-water fix!

TRY SLACKLINE

What is slacklining? It's the act of balancing along a narrow strip of flexible webbing. Why? It's a FUN (and FREE) challenge, not to mention great balance trainer that strengthens the core and lower body! Gibbon will have several styles of slackline set up over a padded area to try free of charge. It's fun for all ages and if you have never tried it, this is the place to do it. Find us in the Historic Tredegar parking lots, with pro athletes on hand giving pointers on the basics and some entry level tricks. Before you know it you'll be hooked and amazed at what you see the pros doing at the Dominion River Rock Slackline Competition!
