FILTHY 5K MUD RUN

FRIDAY, MAY 14 – 6 PM, BROWN'S ISLAND

The Filthy 5k Mud Run kicks off Dominion Riverrock with some down and dirty fun. Start on Brown’s Island and run over the Lee Bridge to Belle Isle. Take the 22nd Street Entrance and then you'll cross into the dry way, where you rock-hop your way to the other side. A series of unique obstacles and mud pits await you as you travel the trails of Belle Isle. Follow the trails to the eastern tip of the island where you'll run through the James. Then it's back to Brown’s Island for one final mud pit before you finish in the middle of an outdoor concert. Just think Woodstock without the drug-crazed hippies...

WHAT:

Filthy 5k Mud Run

WHEN:

Friday, May 14, 6:00 p.m.*

*Runners will be started in 6 waves of up to 250, based on each participant's predicted pace.

WHERE:

Race starts and finishes on Brown's Island.

Directions: Take I-95 Exit 74-A onto the Downtown Expressway. Take first exit on Canal Street heading West. Make a left onto 5th Street South and take it to the riverfront.

COST:

The Filthy 5k has reached its 1,500-participant limit and registration is now closed. THERE WILL BE NO WALKUP REGISTRATION FOR THE EVENT.

Through April 30: $20

May 1 - May 12: $25

Includes: a cool event t-shirt, beverage and free concert.

REGISTER:

Online through 11:59 p.m. on May 12, or until the race reaches capacity (1500), whichever comes first.

Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable.

WAVES:

The race is divided into six waves, based on the predicted pace you indicate when registering. The wave starts are as follows:

Wave	Start Time
Mud Racer (7 min. miles or faster)	6:00 p.m.
Mud Runner (8 min. miles)	6:03 p.m.
Fun Mud Runner (9 min. miles)	6:06 p.m.
Mudder (10 min. miles)	6:09 p.m.
Mud Jogger (11 min. miles)	6:12 p.m.
Mud Wallower (12 min. miles or slower)	6:15 p.m.

PACKET PICK UP:

On Brown's Island from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 14.

BAG CHECK:

Bag check will be available on Brown's Island beginning at 5 p.m.

PRIZES:

Awarded to overall male and female winner.
Age Group Awards, top three.
19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
Awards will be mailed out after the event.

Awards for "Best Mud" and "Best Costume" will also be handed out.

TIPS & SAFETY:

- Wear your grungy clothes and old sneakers, because more than likely they won't be going home with you

- There will be a rinse off area for participants
- Bring a big trash bag, dry clothes and a towel
- Leave your jewelry at home
- Drink fluids before, during, and after your race
- Do not dive head first into the mud pit
- This is a fun run so help your neighbor if he or she needs help
- There will be medical staff along the course and finish line
- We are not responsible for your personal gear

The James River Fund is the official charity of Dominion Riverrock. Venture Richmond and the Sports Backers have created the James River Fund to provide grants to organizations working to enhance recreational use of the public parks along the James River.
